Oh Yessssss...

I was on my way home from work and I overheard someone make a comment about my mane...

And when I say "mane", I mean my "mullet". My day is complete.

Every time it snows here, I start thinking of The Beatles song "Here Comes The Sun." Even I'm finding it weird. Although I do love the snow. I even love the rain and overcast days much more than sunny days.

Old joke

1 min read
Sometime in the 1960's, a boy walks into a Barber's Shop and asks for a 'Beatles Cut.' Without a word, the barber motions for the boy to sit down and he sets to work. Soon, the barber is finished. The boy looks in the mirror and is surprised to see his usual haircut with short sides and back.

"But The Beatles don't have their hair like that!" the boy complains. The barber scowls.

"They would if they came in here."

My friend recently asked me what I find in the music I like to listen to, which consists of Classic Rock and Classic 80's. He asked what kind of lyrics I look for and what kind of emotions the tune evokes and why I only listen to classic rock and classic 80's. After he asked me that, I realized I couldn't answer him. Even though I've listened to classic rock for years I still don't know what it is about it that I enjoy. Sure, Credence Clearwater Revival makes me smile, Pink Floyd makes me feel pumped, and The Rolling Stones can provide a catchy tune, but I still can't figure out what it is that I like about it all. I thought I'd be more prepared for a question like that.

My friend simply loves his Hip-Hop and his Rap, he'll tell me endlessly about the artistry and the feelings and the experiences of the artists, especially Eminem. I hear plenty of hip-hop but I never really got into it. I couldn't name any particular artists or songs off the top of my head. It's just good to listen to once in a while. But I still can't help feeling humbled and confused by his question.

Deviants, what say you? What is it about your favourite music that draws you to it? Is classic rock just all about sex and drugs and alcohol? Is rap and hip hop just all about hate and politics and partying? How do you discover the reason why you listen to the music you do?

Still here

I'm still around, still among the land of the living. Just hit another creative dry spell. But otherwise things are pretty good.
